Last Week's
Mystery Photos
What movie was the above picture taken from  and what was your favorite scene or dialogue?

Sarajane Steigerwald Tarter, Class of '65 - The mystery photo this week is one of my favorite movies, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The part I love is when Butch and Sundance are getting ready to jump into a river.  Sundance admits he can't swim and Butch assures him that he won't drown because the jump will surely kill him!I also like the bike riding scene and music.

Michael Griffith , Classof ‘66 - Great movie! Saw it the first time while on R&R in Sydney, Australia … as well as the play, “Hair.” I specifically remember two quotes from the movie: (1) “Think you used enough dynamite there, Butch?” and: (2) “I got vision, the rest of the world wears bifocals (Butch Cassidy).” After R&R, and back in Vietnam, we used the first quote often.

Dianne Hughey McClure, Class of '64 - That is the ever good looking and sexy Paul Newman and Robert Redford in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. One of my favorite scenes is when they jumped form the cliff into the water. That is a scene in a lot of movies but nobody has topped their's yet.

Linda Beal Walker, Class of '66 - Of course the movie is Paul Newman and Robert Redford as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.   My favorite scene is where they have to jump off the cliff to escape being caught and Sundance admits that he cannot swim and Butch tells him that the fall will probably kill him anyway and which point they jump and Sundance says, "Aw, sh------------------" all the way down.
__________________________

Don Stroud, Class of '64 - I believe the movie title is Butch Cassady and Sundance Kid. My favorite scene would be their jump from the edge of the cliff. Thanks fo all that you do for us.

Andrea Gray Roberson, Class of '66 - The movie is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and it is a movie that I can watch anytime it is on TV and love it.  My favorite scene is when they are on the clift and they are having to jump and Sundance said he couldn't swim and Butch just laughed and said that the fall was going to kill him. Why can they not make such great movies like this today? I do not know if it is just me but most movies I try to watch today are so hard to understand that I just top watching them.

Joy Rubins Morris, Class of '64 - The movie was Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and one of the scenes I most remember is when Butch and Sundance reach the end of the cliff and have no where to go but down to the river below.  Great moment.

Many great scene are in this movie, like the "knife fight rules" and the "think you used enough dynamite?"

I think the cliff jump scene wins out as the favorite scene in this movie. In case you don't remember it, here it is. To see it in full screen, click on the four arrows below the word tube in the bottom right corner.

Bob Crump
Class of '66
1948 - 2010

Kathy Harris Jones, Class of '66, wrote on Friday "I wanted to make you aware that Bob Crump opted to discontinue his dialysis last week.  I went to see him today and he is so heavily sedated that he couldnt' respond to me.  His eyelids fluttered and he grunted a few times and I am sure that he was hearing what I said to him..... he just couldn't respond.  Some of his old students who have been a lot like family to him are seeing that he is taken care of.   I'm not sure he wasn't just holding on to attend the reunion.....which he did for a short time.  I know some of you got to see him there.  I hope that many of you will be able to attend his service.  Bob would like that."

On Saturday, September 25, Escoe German Beatty sent me the following, "Sad news... Bob Crump passed away this morning about 7:30am.  He had chosen to forgo dialysis treatments over a week ago.  Bob had been in very bad health for quite  while and the quality of his life had diminished.  I believe he waited until after the reunion because he seemed to be saying "goodbye" to many."

Tommy,

I notice that you had more responses to the hawkbill knife than you did to the first kiss story.  That's scary.

Hi Tommy,

After reading your near miss on the highway recently, I had to wonder just what would happen to us without you.  You l have to be the last man standing so that you can turn off the computer, turn out the lights, and close the door for the last time.

Loved seeing everyone at the reunion--it was absolutely memorable, wonderful, and  best of all, it is knowing that we just get better and better with each year that passes.

I just returned home from touring our old high school.  WOW, it has really changed over the years. They have added and taken away so much,it hardly looks like the same school. Some of it looked familiar even though it has been over 40 years since I had entered those halls.  I wanted to see it before it was torn down. I was surprised that there were so few people there. The open house today was a good opportunity.

Also, I wanted to thank all those that were involved in planning this years class reunion. I was glad I went and had a great! Great job!  Also, Tommy I just finished reading your new book. I enjoyed it so much. It brought back a lot of memories. I could identify with everything in the book. Great job! I think we might have lived at Redstone Park at the same time and maybe have been at Farley Elem. at the same time.

I regret to inform you that the tour of Lee High School appears to have been a hoax. At 1500 hours this afternoon there were approximately 25 people waiting and no organizational official being present and the building open due to its use by a theatrical group, individual initiative was universally exercised and self-exploration spontaneously adopted. This was easily the most enjoyable LHS group experience I have experienced since matriculation.

Hi Tommy, I signed up for the reunion in August, but needed back surgery, so had to cancel.  Looking forward to the next one. I havn't made it to one yet, so decided it was about time!  I moved away to California in 1967 and was married in 1969.  I've been here ever since.  Would love to see everyone again!
